My Plan

I now have a plan! Something of a plan anyway....

I leave for India on January 7. My plan is to stay in southern India for two months. I've signed with Projects Abroad. Some time in December they will let me know the details of my first stop in India. I expect to be teaching adults in Tamil Nadu or Kerala.

The plan from there is less definite. I'm thinking I will travel to Kolkata where I will look up the Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa, to learn about the work they do. After a few weeks I'd like to move on to Delhi. The Missionaries of Charity are also there, so that's a possibility. We shall see. Agra, the location of the Taj Mahal, is near Delhi. I want to see the Taj Mahal.

By the end of April or first of May I'd like to be on the way to Dharamsala in northern India. Dharamsala is where the Dalai Lama settled all those years ago when he fled Tibet. I've been in contact with an organization there who is looking for English tutors. I think that sounds like me. My plan is to stay there until I need to return to Delhi for my flight home. That flight is on June 10.

I hope to be able to make postings on this blog while I am in India. I don't know what access I will have to computers and the Internet. We shall see. I will have my camera. And I now have a blog site. I figure there will always be Internet Bars. Again, we shall see.

"We shall see" seems more and more like a good slogan for this trip. More so than when I went to China. This time I'm leaving even more doors open. I have a plan, but it's even more fluid. We'll see how I do. I'm excited by the possibilities.

That is a great plan, I remember you told your India plan in Yangshuo, but I did't realise you'll do it so soon.I hope you enjoy your trip of India, and I think you can write a book about your teaching life in asia---Roger

Roger! How nice to hear from you. I've been wondering what you are up to. Why aren't you on Facebook? Many Owen College students are there. Give me your email address and I'll send you an invitation to Facebook. I want to get caught up with you. ~L
